Manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly indicated that he does not want Manchester United to appoint a director of football.
United have endured a disappointing four months in the Premier League, with the North-West giants sitting 11 points adrift of a top-four place in the standings.
That has resulted in uncertainty emerging over Mourinho's long-term future at Old Trafford, and it appears that it may continue with the United board said to have considered a new arrival.
According to The Telegraph, Mourinho has moved to reject the club's attempts to bring in a director of football at the North-West giants.
Mourinho is said to have his own transfer targets in mind ahead of the January window, with the Portuguese known to be keen to sign a new central defender having missed out in the summer.
