Sports Mole previews Saturday's League One clash between Morecambe and Portsmouth, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Morecambe will look to end a five-game winless run in all competitions when they welcome Portsmouth to the Mazuma Stadium on Saturday.

The visitors, meanwhile, will attempt to extend their unbeaten run to six competitive matches, although they have only won one of their last seven League One games.

Morecambe are winless in their last five matches in all competitions after being knocked out of two cup competitions over the last week.

After losing to Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup, Morecambe were eliminated from the League Cup in midweek, losing 2-0 in the third round to Milton Keynes Dons.

While the Shrimps have lost one of their previous five league games, they have struggled to record victories this season.

As a result of winning only two of their 17 matches in League One, Morecambe are currently in the relegation zone with four points separating them from safety.

They will at least be confident of claiming a positive result after picking up four points from their last two home league games.

Meanwhile, Portsmouth are unbeaten in their last three league games, although they have had to settle for a 1-1 draw in their previous two matches in League One.

In their most recent outing, Pompey claimed a 3-1 victory over National League North side Hereford in the FA Cup thanks to goals from Reeco Hackett, Colby Bishop and Joe Pigott.

Danny Cowley's side will now turn their attention back to League One on Sunday, with Pompey currently sat in the playoff places.

Despite scoring three goals in their FA Cup win, Portsmouth have failed to score more than one goal in their last five league games.

After winning their last two away games in all competitions, the visitors have the chance to claim a third consecutive away victory on Saturday.

Farrend Rawson has started the two games for Morecambe, and he is expected to retain his place in a back three alongside Anthony O'Connor and Ryan Delaney.

After featuring as a second-half substitute against MK Dons in midweek, Cole Stockton could be brought into the starting lineup.

Kieran Phillips will retain his place in the forward line, and the 22-year-old will be looking to add to the four goals that he has scored this season,

As for the visitors, they are expected to be without the services of Joe Rafferty, Louis Thompson and Jayden Reid due to injury issues.

Tom Lowery returned from a spell on the sidelines to feature as a second-half substitute against Hereford, and he is expected to be on the bench once again.

Marlon Pack has missed the last five matches, but after recently returning to training, he could feature in the starting lineup.

Morecambe possible starting lineup:
Ripley; Delaney, Rawson, O'Connor; Bedeau, Weir, Shaw, Gibson; Cooney; Stockton, Phillips

We say: Morecambe 1-1 Portsmouth

Morecambe have collected four points from their two home games, and we think that they will pick up a point against a Portsmouth side who have drawn four of their last seven league matches.
