Van der Vaart: 'I have no plans to quit'

Rafael Van der Vaart has no plans to retire from international football despite being discontented with the Netherlands' performance and his lack of playing time at Euro 2012.

Netherlands playmaker Rafael Van der Vaart has claimed that despite an early exit from Euro 2012, he has no plans to retire from international duty.

The Spurs midfielder has already conceded that dressing room tension is to blame for his country's disastrous campaign.

Tipped pre-tournament as one of the favourites to win the trophy, the Oranje never really got their campaign going and finished bottom of Group B without a single point.

Van der Vaart and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar both had to play substitute roles during the tournament, something that they were unhappy about.

"There were a few problems, but it wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. Huntelaar was a bit angry. That's correct. Bouma slapping the team doctor? Completely false," Van der Vaart told Kicker.

"Of course I will continue as an international. I don't feel like the calls for rejuvenation are aimed directly at me. We are all to blame for what happened."

Netherlands coach Bert van Marwijk has come under some scrutiny but the midfielder claims that he would be happy for the former Feyenoord boss to remain in charge.

"People often make wrong decisions in the heat of the moment. I don't have anything against it if Van Marwijk continues. He was successful at the World Cup and stuck with that team. A lot of players weren't in top form, though," he added.

"It's a huge disappointment. You can always go out in a group like this, but not in this way. I understand the criticism. The way we played was unacceptable."

Van der Vaart will become the fifth Dutchman to earn 100 caps if he features in the international friendly against Belgium in August.
