Cheik Tiote has no intention of leaving Newcastle United

Cheik Tiote insists that his future is with Newcastle United, despite reports linking him with a move away from the Sports Direct Arena.

Newcastle United midfielder Cheik Tiote has calmed fears of an impending departure by claiming that he wants to stay with the Magpies.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a transfer from the Sports Direct Arena due to a number of clubs reportedly interested in luring the Ivorian away from the North East.

"I'm a Newcastle player, my future is at Newcastle," Tiote told the Evening Chronicle. "I'm playing for Newcastle and I have to finish this season strongly and help the team get into Europe.

"If we do that, it will be good for the club and the fans. We are in a great position now."

Tiote joined the Premier League outfit from FC Twente in 2010.
