Alan Shearer believes that Harry Redknapp is the right man to defy the odds and keep Queens Park Rangers in the Premier League.

Alan Shearer has declared that he expects Harry Redknapp to turn things around quickly at Queens Park Rangers.

Redknapp was appointed QPR boss last weekend and watched his new side from the stands as they put in a spirited display against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Shearer believes that Redknapp has a very difficult job to do at Loftus Road but thinks that he can use his experience to galvanise the club.

He said: "Harry Redknapp has some job on his hands but I am convinced he can do it.

"I know from personal experience how situations can suddenly turn around with the change of manager.

"Harry is not called Houdini for nothing. He saved Portsmouth and resurrected Tottenham Hotspur. For me he puts a smile back on the face of a football club and the players."

The 65-year-old takes charge of the Hoops for the first time on Tuesday when they face fellow strugglers Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
