Aitor Karanka claims that Real Madrid deserve to be top of La Liga.

Real Madrid assistant boss Aitor Karanka has said that his side deserve to be top of La Liga.

The Madrid outfit, who have led the Spanish league for much of the season so far, hold a six-point lead over rivals Barcelona with eight league games to go. Meanwhile, Karanka attributes the club's success to hard work and focus.

"We have no doubt [we deserve to be top]," he told reporters.

"We are where we are for the hard work being done and we are first because we have treated each match as the next big game.

"We don't look elsewhere, we follow what we are doing and that gets results."
