Tim Sherwood hoping for Erik Lamela return this season

Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood says that injured midfielder Erik Lamela could be back in action before the end of the season.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood has said that injured midfielder Erik Lamela could be back in action before the end of the season.

Lamela has endured a tough start to life at White Hart Lane, having suffered a number of injuries since joining from Roma in the summer of 2013.

"He's back now at the training ground; he's having rehab. It's slowly, slowly, he's getting closer, as you would expect," said Sherwood, according to the Daily Star.

"There was a problem with his thigh, then they diagnosed the problem with his back. [He is] having continued treatment and now he's started rehab.

"We're hoping to have him back before the end of the season but there are no guarantees with that."

Tottenham currently occupy fifth position in the Premier League table.
