Wolverhampton Wanderers are looking to speak to Brighton & Hove Albion's Gustavo Poyet about becoming the club's new manager, according to reports.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have asked Brighton & Hove Albion for permission to speak to their manager Gustavo Poyet, according to Sky Sports News.

The Molineux-based club are currently seeking a new boss following their decision to sack Mick McCarthy last week.

It is believed that Alan Curbishley was offered the job, only for the 54-year-old to turn down the job.

Former Manchester United players Steve Bruce and Roy Keane have also been linked with the post.

However, it now appears that the Wolves board have identified Poyet as the man to replace McCarthy.

Poyet took charge of the Seagulls in 2009.
