Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Kenny Jackett calls for video technology in football

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Kenny Jackett wants to see video technology used during football matches.

Kenny Jackett has expressed his belief that referees in football should be able to consult video technology during matches.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers manager thinks that if it had been available at Molineux on Saturday then Bakary Sako wouldn't have been sent off against Watford.

The Mali international was shown a straight red card when Fernando Forestieri fell to the ground clutching his face, even though the Italian appeared to have initiated the shove between the two players.

The decision has since been overturned, but Jackett believes that the dismissal could have been easily avoided.

"My own view on it is that a referee in that situation, if he wants to consult video technology, he should be able to," Jackett told the club website.

"If he says 'no, I'm 10 yards away, I've seen it clearly, here's my decision', then no problem.

"If there's any doubt in his mind then he's in touch with the fourth or a fifth official quite easily who can replay it back."

It will be at least another year before video technology is trialled in football.
