Wolves reportedly line up Steve Bruce as a temporary replacement for Mick McCarthy.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly lining up Steve Bruce as a replacement for sacked manager Mick McCarthy.

McCarthy's five-and-a-half-season spell as Wolves boss ended yesterday following their 5-1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion at home on Sunday.

The club are said to want to sign Bruce as a temporary manager until the end of the season in a bid to avoid relegation to the Championship.

The former Birmingham City and Wigan Athletic boss was sacked as Sunderland manager in November following a string of poor results.
