Wycombe Wanderers appeal against Matt McClure's 70-second red card

Wycombe Wanderers lodge an appeal against the red card shown to Matt McClure just 70 seconds after he was introduced as a substitute against Tranmere Rovers.

Wycombe Wanderers have lodged an appeal against the red card shown to Matt McClure moments after he was introduced as a substitute last night.

McClure was dismissed for leading with an elbow in an aerial challenge with Tranmere Rovers' Adam Dugdale 70 seconds after coming on in the second half at Prenton Park.

In a statement today, Wycombe said: "Having reviewed footage of the incident, particularly in comparison to similar challenges which went unpunished by the referee, the club feel the decision to issue a red card was unfair and have therefore submitted a case for the Football Association to consider."

Despite going down to 10 men, Wycombe won the game 2-1 to cement their place in the automatic promotion spots.
