Wales legend Shane Williams backs the new breed of Welsh players to make an impact during their summer tour of Australia.

Shane Williams has backed Wales to win at least one Test match during their summer tour of Australia.

Williams, 35, scored 58 tries in 87 caps for Wales during an illustrious career, but has backed the new breed, many of whom were part of Wales's Grand Slam winning side in this year's Six Nations, to make their presence felt down under.

"It's going to be tough," he said. "It is a big ask to win the series against Australia - one of the best sides in the world - on their home turf, but I think that is where we need to get to now.

"We've won the Grand Slam and we need keep going on an upward curve.

"I do see Wales winning a Test out there - whether or not they win the series I don't know - but they have certainly got a good enough squad."

Williams bowed out of rugby yesterday, appearing for the Barbarians against Wales in a match that the Baa-baas eventually lost 30-21.
