Wales skipper Sam Warburton believes that his side's "fantastic" defensive display was the main factor behind their victory over Ireland.

Wales captain Sam Warburton has praised the performance of his defensive teammates during their victory over Ireland earlier today.

Despite seeing his side run in three tries during the 22-10 win, Warburton believes that it was the team's performance in their own half which sealed progression through to the semi-finals.

"It was a massive performance, we knew they had a lot of big ball carriers and there was a lot of tackling stopping them on the gain line," he said.

"They are dangerous, it was a fantastic defensive effort."

The 23-year-old has become the youngest player to captain his country at this year's World Cup.
