Venus Williams says that her "routine" victory over Galina Voskoboeva was exactly what she needed.

Venus Williams has said that she is pleased with how her first-round match went at the Australian Open.

The 32-year-old took just one hour to dismantle Galina Voskoboeva in straight sets.

"It's nice to spend less time on court and not be in long sets," said Williams. "A win is a win no matter what it is, but it's nice when it's more routine."

Williams will now play Alize Cornet in the second round.
