Agnieszka Radwanska progresses into the quarter-finals of the Cincinnati Open, despite suffering a brief threat from Sloane Stephens.

Agnieszka Radwanska has reached the quarter-finals of the Cincinnati Open following a 6-1 4-6 6-4 victory over Sloane Stephens.

The Polish pro, who lost to Serena Williams in the final of Wimbledon, stormed through the first set after taking the first break of serve and eased to a 6-1 set lead.

Despite a thumping start, Radwanksa was broken by her American opponent instantly in the second set and while Stephens grabbed a substantial lead, Radwanska did manage to put pressure on her opponent by closing the gap 5-4.

Radwanska was close to grabbing a break but Stephens did just enough to win her advantage and draw level on sets.

The third set was a tight affair but Radwanska snatched a vital break to push on and claim the third-round win.
