Andy Murray says that losing the first set to Richard Gasquet was "tough" to take.

Andy Murray believes that intensity was the key to his victory over Richard Gasquet in the semi-finals of the Miami Masters.

The Scot dropped the first set on a tie-breaker, but stepped up a gear to take the next two sets and book his place in the final.

"The first set was a tough one to lose," Murray told Sky Sports News. "I hit something like 20-odd winners, so to lose it was tough.

"I felt like I was dictating a lot of the points but just made a few unforced errors on the backhand side at the end.

"I did well in the second and third sets to keep up my intensity."

Last year's US Open champion will now play David Ferrer in Sunday's finale and expects a stern test from the world number five.

"It will be a tough match," he added. "He's had a great week, he's in great shape. He's always tough to play against."

Murray has a 5-1 record against the Spaniard on hard courts.
