Laura Robson has confirmed that she will be competing in the AEGON Classic at Edgbaston this year.

The British number one joins Heather Watson and Marion Bartoli on the entry list for this year's tournament, which takes place ahead of Wimbledon.

The 19-year-old said: "I always enjoy the grass court season and I am excited to return to the AEGON Classic in Birmingham and to play in front of a home crowd. It's fantastic preparation ahead of Wimbledon."

Commercial director of the LTA, Lawrence Robertson, added: "It's fantastic news for the tournament that we now have our two top British players confirmed to play at the event.

"Laura has risen through the ranks of tennis this past year and we're all excited to get the chance to watch her back on British soil again."

America's Melanie Oudin won last year's event.
