Novak Djokovic through to semi-finals of Shanghai Masters

World number one Novak Djokovic moves through to the semi-finals of the Shanghai Masters after a straight-sets win over David Ferrer.

Novak Djokovic has defeated David Ferrer in straight sets to book his place in the last four of the Shanghai Masters.

The world number one, who won the China Open last week, had too much firepower for the Spaniard as he ran out a 6-4 6-2 winner.

Ferrer competed well during the opening set, but he was struggling to make a sustained impact on Djokovic's serve and one break was enough for the Serbian to earn a set advantage.

Djokovic also broke at the start of the second to take full control of the contest and, after he struck again in the seventh game, he served out for the match to set up a semi-final date with either Roger Federer or Julien Benneteau.
