Andy Murray admits that he could have played better during his US Open opening round encounter against Alex Bogomolov Jr.

Andy Murray has summed up his opening appearance at this year's US Open as "okay".

The British number one struggled to hold his service game throughout his round one encounter with Alex Bogomolov Jr earlier today.

Nevertheless, Murray held out to record a 6-2 6-4 6-1 win over his Russian opponent, who is ranked 73 in the world standings.

"I did okay. I was struggling a bit on serve but I managed to come through, which is the most important thing," he said during his post-match interview.

"I'd like to have played better but the windy conditions were tricky."

Murray will face either Ivan Dodig or Hiroki Moriya in round two, which is likely to be scheduled for Thursday.
