Micky Adams slams 'embarrassing' defending

Port Vale boss Micky Adams says that his defenders should feel "embarrassed" after letting a two-goal lead slip in the 2-2 draw with Coventry.

Port Vale boss Micky Adams believes that his defenders should feel "embarrassed" after Coventry City scored twice in the final 10 minutes in Sunday's 2-2 draw.

Vale looked on course for a comfortable victory at Sixfields after Doug Loft fired the visitors ahead after just 37 seconds, before Ben Williamson doubled the advantage midway through the second half.

However, Jordan Clarke reduced the arrears with 10 minutes remaining before Callum Wilson waltzed through a number of bodies en route to snatching a last-gasp equaliser.

"It's a real shame as we put a real shift in. Up until the first goal we conceded I was delighted," he told reporters at full time.

"We gradually got into the game and Ben Williamson and Tom Pope were a handful for them.

"Up until the last 10 minutes we were comfortable. It's unbelievable defending, and when the players see that last 10 minutes I'll think they will be embarrassed. They've switched off and it's frustrating for our supporters."

Adams's men remain 11th in the League One table, while City sit 15th.
