Arsenal allegedly put together a four-man shortlist of potential replacements for sacked manager Unai Emery.

Arsenal have allegedly put together a shortlist of four potential candidates for the vacant managerial position at the Emirates Stadium.

On Friday morning, the Gunners announced that Unai Emery had left the club after 18 months in charge, with Freddie Ljungberg taking over the reins on an interim basis.

However, although they are in no rush to make another appointment, the hierarchy at the North London outfit will assess possible long-term successors to Emery in short order.

According to the Daily Mail, Mikel Arteta, Massimiliano Allegri, Nuno Espirito Santo and Brendan Rodgers are all on the shortlist behind the scenes.

While Allegri is a free agent after ending his tenure at Juventus last summer, Arteta, Nuno and Rodgers are currently in roles at Manchester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City respectively.

A further report has indicated that Rodgers, who only arrived at the Foxes in February, is the priority candidate.
