Arsenal legend Robert Pires has urged Arsene Wenger to put pen to paper and sign a contract extension at the Emirates Stadium.
Speculation continues to surround the Frenchman's long-term future in North London having failed to prolong his 18-year stay with the Gunners as of yet.
Arsenal are odds-on favourites to win the FA Cup and end their nine-year trophy drought this season, and Pires believes that his former manager is biding his time before extended his spell in the capital.
"I'm confident. Well, I hope he will stay," he told Goal.com.
"There is a little bit of confusion in the situation because normally he would have already signed the contract, but maybe he can wait until the end of the season or the FA Cup [to announce it]."
Wenger's men host Manchester City at the Emirates at 5.30pm today.
