Thomas Vermaelen happy with determined Arsenal display

Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen praises his team for their determined performance in Tuesday's 3-1 win over West Ham.

Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen has praised his team for their hard work following Tuesday's 3-1 victory over West Ham United.

The Gunners moved back into fourth place in the Premier League table as they came from behind to claim the points at the Emirates Stadium.

Vermaelen believes that Arsenal will have to win their remaining games this season if they want to pip Everton to the final Champions League spot.

"It was a very important win," the Belgian defender told the club's official website. "All the games we have coming up now are massive.

"We recovered well over the last couple of days and we knew we had a short recovery time but we worked hard for these three points.

"Every game has to be won now, this was one of them and I'm happy we did the job. Sunday is another one we need to win as well."

Arsenal are back in action on Sunday when they travel to fellow FA Cup finalists Hull City in the Premier League.
