Bookmakers slash the odds of Marouane Fellaini joining Arsenal following reports that the club have triggered his release clause.

Arsenal are the odds-on favourites to sign Everton's Marouane Fellaini following reports that the Gunners have triggered the player's release clause.

Manchester United and Chelsea have also been linked with the Belgian, but Sky Bet has Arsene Wenger's club backed in from 16/1 to 6/4 for his signature.

"Arsenal have been backed to sign various different players over the summer as Arsene Wenger looks to make use of a healthy transfer kitty," said Sky Bet Football Trader Chris Spicer.

"But it was somewhat of a surprise to see such significant stakes on them to sign Fellaini.

"The towering midfielder does not seem to fit in with their footballing ethos but our punters certainly seem convinced a deal could happen."

There have been conflicting reports about the amount Arsenal have offered for Fellaini, with Goal.com claiming that the player's release clause was £22m for a top-four club.

However, it has since been reported that the North London outfit have tabled a bid of £24m.

Wenger is believed to have made the offer for Fellaini on the same day that Everton named Roberto Martinez as its new manager.
