Tim Sherwood: 'Aston Villa not good enough against Stoke City'

Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood feels that his side did not play well enough to get anything from their clash with Stoke City, after succumbing to a 1-0 defeat.

Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood has suggested that his side did not play well enough to get anything from their clash with Stoke City this afternoon.

The Villans lost 1-0 in their Midlands derby after a second-half strike from Marko Arnautovic, and Sherwood accepts his part of the blame for his side's poor performance.

"[It's] disappointing obviously to get nothing out of the game," Sherwood told Sky Sports News. "We didn't play well enough, I thought the game was a draw, but we went into it expecting to win and unfortunately we haven't picked up any points again.

"We had a few chances, Micah's [Richards] one just after they scored, we've had chances to score but not enough today. It's disappointing.

"We carry on working hard, we'll work as hard everyday as I have done since I've been at the club. Ultimately I'm the manager, I've got to take responsibility for the performances and the results, that's part and parcel of the job."

Villa are currently 18th in the Premier League table after taking just four points from eight matches.
