Aston Villa have reportedly monitored Hajduk Split goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic over recent weeks ahead of a potential January move.
It is believed that Villa's head of goalkeeping recruitment, Tony Coton, has been to watch the 25-year-old in action.
According to The Mirror, Coton was suitably impressed by the Croatian international's performance to advise manager Remi Garde to make a bid.
The report adds that Split value the keeper at around £3m, which is a figure that the Premier League strugglers should be able to match.
Kalinic has been capped on two occasions by his country at senior international level.
