Diego Simeone hails "very good" Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone says that his team must "continue growing" after moving into second position in the La Liga table at the weekend.

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has called on his team to "continue growing" after Sunday's 1-0 win over Real Betis moved the capital side into second position in the La Liga table.

Koke scored the only goal of the match in Seville as Atletico secured the three points they needed to move above Real Madrid in the division.

Simeone has said that it is "too early to take stock" of his team's season, but is pleased with their current run of form.

"The most important thing is to continue growing. We'll see if we can maintain the level we showed [on Sunday], which was very good," Simeone told reporters.

"We want to surpass the numbers we recorded last season and see how far we go, but the idea is to always go game by game. It's too early to take stock [of our season]. We want to keep growing, but I must praise the enthusiasm of the lads as they keep winning."

Atletico return to Champions League action at home to Galatasaray on Wednesday.
