Atletico Madrid are reportedly considering Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez as a possible replacement for Jan Oblak.
Oblak has held the gloves as Diego Simeone's number one for the past six years, but he is believed to be open to a new challenge after entering the final two years of his Atletico deal.
Having offloaded Ivo Grbic to Lille, Atletico brought in Benjamin Lecomte from Monaco on loan in the summer, but Simeone will be in the market for a new stopper if Chelsea-linked Oblak is sold next year.
According to La Razon, Martinez - who was at the centre of Argentina's COVID-related fiasco against Brazil at the weekend - is on Atletico's shortlist following his stellar performances at Aston Villa.
The 29-year-old amassed 15 clean sheets in 38 Premier League games last season following a brief stint in Arsenal's first team, and the report adds that Atletico are expecting Martinez to cost less than what they would receive for Oblak's sale.
Martinez has supposedly been released by Argentina alongside Emiliano Buendia following the events against Brazil, with authorities storming the pitch to reprimand the duo - alongside Giovani Lo Celso and Cristian Romero - over an alleged COVID-19 law breach.
