Chris Wood: Birmingham move a "no-brainer"

Birmingham's new loan signing Chris Wood has described his move to City as a "no-brainer" ahead of their Championship match with Coventry.

Birmingham's new loan signing Chris Wood has described his move to the Midlands club as a "no-brainer".

The West Brom striker has moved to St Andrews on a one-month loan deal and made his debut as a substitute in the 2-1 defeat to Derby last weekend.

The 19-year-old, who could make his first start for the Blues against Coventry on Saturday, is confident that Birmingham will be challenging at the top of the Championship this season.

“There’s not a better club to come on loan to," said Wood.

"It’s right on my doorstep, I know the area, everything around Birmingham City, the history.

“It’s a big club, with great players and big expectations."

Wood added: "When Birmingham came in it was quite a no-brainer for me.”

The New Zealander could start against Coventry on Saturday as manager Chris Hughton is without injured players Cameron Jerome, Nikola Zigic and Marlon King.
