Gary Bowyer receives assurances from Blackburn Rovers owners

Blackburn Rovers caretaker manager Gary Bowyer says that he has travelled to India to clarify his position with the club's owners.

Blackburn Rovers caretaker manager Gary Bowyer has revealed that he has travelled to India to clarify his position with the club's owners.

The 41-year-old took caretaker charge of the team for the second time this season following the sacking of Michael Appleton in March.

Bowyer, who is one of five managers to have taken charge at Ewood Park this season, has said that he received a "positive answer" from the Rao family regarding his future.

"People who know how much I care for the club will understand that it was done for positive reasons," he told BBC Radio Lancashire. "And I got a positive answer. It's me [in charge] for the next six games.

"I felt that there was a lot of negativity around the football club, as there has been for the majority of the season.

"I realise the run of games we're going into are vitally important and I needed to remove any negativity surrounding the managerial position, for myself and the players. It was an opportunity to meet the owners and get that clarified."

Blackburn are currently 22nd in the Championship, one point adrift of safety.
