Burnley announce the signing of former Wigan Athletic midfielder David Jones on a three-year deal.

Burnley have announced the signing of former Wigan Athletic midfielder David Jones on a free transfer.

The 28-year-old, who began his career with Premier League champions Manchester United, has put pen to paper on a three-year contract at Turf Moor.

"David is a very good footballer and someone who has good pedigree, coming from Manchester United," said Burnley manager Sean Dyche.

"At Wigan he was almost a part of something, but here he thinks he can really do something, as do we, and mould himself into a really good footballer here at Burnley.

"There were a few clubs in for David, but he wanted to get a feel for us and geographically, he is not a million miles away, so that helped."

Jones, who has had stints at Wolverhampton Wanderers and Derby County, was released by Wigan at the end of last season.
