Cardiff City end five-game winless streak with victory against Fulham

Cardiff City end their five-game winless streak in the Championship as Sean Morrison's header helps them beat Fulham 1-0.

Cardiff City ended their five-game winless streak in the Championship by beating Fulham 1-0 this afternoon thanks to Sean Morrison's header.

There were doubts over whether the game would go ahead following damage to the stadium, but it did not distract the home side as they made a lively start to the match.

A neat nutmeg from Adam Le Fondre on the left wing gave him space to get a ball into the box, but he was unable to find Kenwyne Jones.

Their next chance came after a long throw from Aron Gunnarsson found Morrison, who headed just over the bar.

It was a warning for Fulham, but they did not heed it and Cardiff opened the scoring minutes later through the exact same combination.

Gunnarsson's long throw again met the head of Morrison and this time he nodded despite the best efforts of Marcus Bettinelli.

The Icelandic midfielder's throws were proving to be a dangerous tool for the hosts and they almost scored again as Le Fondre had an effort cleared off the line.

Ross McCormack spurned Fulham's best chance to get a goal in the first half after turning and firing in a strike which had Simon Moore beaten, but eventually dropped onto the roof of the net.

Cardiff pushed for a second goal following the interval and looked more and more likely to get it as the half wore on.

Fulham were lively on the counter, however, and McCormack forced a good save from Moore following a free kick.

Alexander Kacaniklic came within inches of levelling for Fulham from the bench after McCormack's pass into the box, but they could not find an equaliser as Cardiff went home with the points.
