Pep Guardiola makes four changes to his Manchester City starting lineup for Thursday evening's Premier League clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Pep Guardiola has made four changes to his Manchester City starting lineup for this evening's Premier League clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The Citizens are looking to close the eight-point gap to league leaders Arsenal with a victory in West London, after dropping points in a 1-1 draw at home against Everton last weekend.

Phil Foden, Joao Cancelo, Kyle Walker and captain Ilkay Gundogan all return to the first XI, with Jack Grealish, Manuel Akanji, Rico Lewis and Riyad Mahrez all dropping to the substitutes' bench.

Walker and Cancelo will operate as full-back either side of central defenders John Stones and former Chelsea man Nathan Ake, shielding goalkeeper Ederson.

Kevin De Bruyne - another former Chelsea player - is joined in a three-man midfield alongside Rodri and Gundogan, and the latter's inclusion sees Bernardo Silva move up into the front three.

Indeed, the Portuguese playmaker is set to begin on the right flank, with Foden operating on the opposite wing and goal machine Erling Braut Haaland leading the line.

As for Chelsea, Graham Potter has made two chances to his starting lineup, with Mason Mount and Jorginho replaced in midfield by Hakim Ziyech and Mateo Kovacic.

Former Man City attacker Raheem Sterling keeps his place in the side, joining Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic up front.

Manchester City starting lineup: Ederson; Walker, Stones, Ake, Cancelo; De Bruyne, Rodri, Gundogan; Bernardo, Haaland, Foden

Subs: Ortega, Lewis, Phillips, Akanji, Mahrez, Alvarez, Gomez, Grealish, Palmer

Chelsea starting lineup: Kepa; Azpilicueta, Koulibaly, Thiago Silva, Cucurella; Kovacic, Zakaria, Ziyech; Sterling, Havertz, Pulisic

Subs: Bettinelli, Jorginho, Aubameyang, Chalobah, Gallagher, Chukwuemeka, Humphreys, Hutchinson, Hall
