Chelsea centre-back Andreas Christensen verbally agrees to join Barcelona on a four-year contract, according to a report.

Chelsea centre-back Andreas Christensen has reportedly verbally agreed to join Barcelona.

The Denmark international's contract at Stamford Bridge is due to expire at the end of June, and there has been a host of speculation surrounding his future in recent weeks.

A recent report claimed that Chelsea had already accepted that the central defender would not be signing an extension, leaving him free to move to another club ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.

Bayern Munich have long been linked with the 25-year-old, but according to Sport, Barcelona are closing in on the capture of the Dane.

The report claims that Christensen has already verbally agreed to make the move to Camp Nou on a free transfer, with the defender expected to sign a four-year contract with Xavi's side.

Christensen has been a regular for Thomas Tuchel's side during the 2021-22 campaign, making 26 appearances in all competitions, contributing two goals and one assist in the process.

Barcelona also continue to be heavily linked with Chelsea's Cesar Azpilicueta, who is set to be available on a free transfer at the end of the season.
