Chelsea have reportedly extended Willy Caballero's contract by an extra 12 months.
With the veteran goalkeeper having just weeks remaining on his deal at Stamford Bridge, it had been expected that he would be given a free transfer at the end of the campaign.
However, according to The Telegraph, Chelsea have instead moved to ensure that they have some leeway with regards to the 38-year-old's future.
Club officials have activated an option which allows the Premier League outfit to add a further year on the Argentine's terms.
While Caballero may still leave Chelsea during the next transfer window, the West Londoners are now in a position to demand a fee.
Caballero has made just nine appearances in all competitions this season.
