David Meyler has admitted that there is "good competition" for his place in the Hull City starting lineup following the closure of the summer transfer window.
As well as securing the permanent signing of Jake Livermore, Hull boss Steve Bruce also bolstered his midfield options by signing the likes of Gaston Ramirez, Hatem Ben Arfa and Robert Snodgrass.
However, despite the battle for places, Republic of Ireland international Meyler has expressed his determination to force his way into his manager's thinking.
"I've got to kick on again. I've got to try and force my way into the team where I'm playing regularly all the time. It's going to be tough, but there's good competition and that's what every team needs," he told the club's official website.
Meyler joined Hull, initially on loan, in November 2012.
