A report claims that Fulham are no longer trying to sign full-back Aaron Cresswell from Ipswich Town.

Fulham have reportedly cooled their interest in Ipswich Town defender Aaron Cresswell.

Recent speculation had suggested that the Premier League outfit had identified the 23-year-old as the ideal candidate to replace John Arne Riise, who is expected to leave Craven Cottage over the coming days.

However, a source has told the East Anglian Daily Times that the majority of Fulham's budget will be spent on a striker, rather than a left-back.

"The bulk of the new owner's transfer budget will be going on a striker," the source said. "It's unlikely that much more than £1m will be spent on a left-back and it's felt that there are better value players for that position in the foreign leagues.

"Aaron Cresswell was on the club's radar during his first season at Ipswich and clearly has the potential to step up to the Premier League, but many felt that he didn't show quite enough progress last season to justify a big money move just yet."

Cresswell joined the Tractor Boys in 2011 from Tranmere Rovers.
