Slavisa Jokanovic warns Watford despite win over Leeds United

Watford must improve defensively if they want to maintain their promotion push, says manager Slavisa Jokanovic.

Watford manager Slavisa Jokanovic has warned his side that they must improve following today's 3-2 win away at Leeds United.

The Yorkshire side led 2-0 early on, but a strike from Troy Deeney and a brace from Matej Vydra earned the Hornets a second straight win in the Championship, but Jokanovic says that they must not always rely on their forwards.

He told the Watford Weekend Review Show: "We started a little bit slow in the game. We made some mistakes, and it's part of football. It [the first Leeds goal] was a big present for them, then they scored a fantastic goal.

"After that, we started to play the game. We connected with more quality, in possession, and with more offensive players. We were dangerous. We started to catch the control of possession and we had many, many chances.

"I understand that football is a game in two directions though. If I wait to score three goals to win the games, it will be a difficult situation for us. We must continue to try and improve."

Playoff hopefuls Watford next face Fulham on Tuesday.
