Sports Mole previews Sunday's Women's Super League clash between Liverpool Women and Bristol City Women, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

The Robins, meanwhile, will be looking to end their poor run of form, having failed to win any of their last five competitive matches.

Liverpool went into the international break in a positive mood after they cruised to a 4-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion to end their four-game winless run in all competitions.

Gemma Bonner and Shanice van de Sanden grabbed a goal apiece to give the Reds a two-goal cushion at the break, before Ceri Holland and Sophie Roman Haug found the net in the second period to wrap up Liverpool's biggest WSL victory since beating Yeovil Town 4-0 in April 2018.

Having collected 14 points from their eight matches, the Reds occupy fifth position with just two points separating them from the top three.

After winning their last two home matches, Matt Beard's side have the opportunity to record three consecutive home league victories for the second time in 2023.

Recent history suggests that Liverpool tend to pick up points against Bristol City, with the Reds unbeaten in their last six meetings across all competitions (W3, D3).

While Liverpool are competing in their second straight WSL season, Bristol City are featuring in their first top-flight campaign in two years after they won promotion from the Championship last term.

The Robins have endured a tough time since returning to the top tier, having won just one of their eight league matches.

Unfortunately for Lauren Smith's side, they have suffered six WSL defeats this season, including a 2-0 home loss in their most recent outing against Manchester United.

As a result of their poor form, the Robins are currently propping up the table, with goal difference keeping them below relegation rivals West Ham United.

Having shipped 22 goals in the WSL this term, Bristol City hold the worst defensive record in the top flight, and they will need to shore up their backline if they are to avoid an immediate record to the second tier.

Team News

Liverpool are still unable to call upon Jasmine Matthews, who has missed the last four competitive matches with a hamstring injury.

Beard has also revealed that Mia Enderby will be unavailable after she sustained a concussion while on international duty with England's Under-19 side.

After seeing his side cruise to a 4-0 victory over Brighton before the international break, Beard could be tempted to name an unchanged lineup for Sunday's contest.

As for the visitors, they could be without the services of Fran Bentley, Kaylan Marckese, Satara Murray and Rachel Furness.

Chelsea loanee Brooke Aspin is also set to miss out after she was stretchered off in Bristol City's final game before the international break.

Having scored four times in eight league appearances, Amalie Thestrup represents one of Bristol City's main goal threats.

Liverpool Women possible starting lineup:
Micah; Clark, Bonner, Fisk; Koivisto, Hobinger, Nagano, Hinds; Van de Sanden, Holland, Haug

Bristol City Women possible starting lineup:
Clark; Powell, Mustaki, Connolly, Layzell, Napier; Morgan, Rodgers, Jones, Thestrup; Harrison

We say: Liverpool Women 2-0 Bristol City Women

Liverpool have won three of their last four home league games, and we think that they will make full use of home advantage to beat a Bristol City side that has lost four of their previous five competitive matches.
