Steven Gerrard targets FA Cup success

Steven Gerrard says that he wants to help Liverpool "go all the way" in the FA Cup this season, before he leaves the club in May.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has said that he wants to end his final season with the club by lifting the FA Cup.

The 34-year-old, who confirmed his exit from the Reds last week, helped his club into the fourth round of the cup this evening by scoring a double in their 2-1 win against AFC Wimbledon.

"I always enjoy the FA Cup," he told BBC Sport. "I've grown up loving the competition. It is going to be my last time so I want to go all the way. This is the beauty of the FA Cup, form goes out of the window. Wimbledon were honest and gave us a real test.

"If I wasn't here playing for this team I would be in the stands watching. I know what it means to the supporters and that is why I try to give it my best. We have to take each game as it comes. Bolton in the next round will be a difficult test. Winning this competition is what dreams are made of and hopefully that will be the case."

Gerrard has helped Liverpool to win the FA Cup twice in his career.
