A report claims that Liverpool will use Adam Lallana in a behind-closed-doors friendly next week, as the English midfielder edges nearer to a first-team return.

Liverpool have reportedly arranged a behind-closed-doors friendly for next week as a chance for Adam Lallana to make a return to the field.

The 29-year-old has missed the opening few months of the campaign with a thigh injury sustained during pre-season, seeing him miss all 18 of the Reds' fixtures so far.

Lallana appears to be on course for a mid-November comeback to competitive action, as The Telegraph reports that he will take part in a friendly for his club side during the international break.

Teammates James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who missed out on a place in England's latest squad, are also understood to be in contention to feature, with Jurgen Klopp keen for his players to maintain their fitness levels.

Should Lallana come through the 90-minute match unscathed, the report suggests that he will be among Liverpool's subs for the November 18 visit of former club Southampton.
