Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will have the chance to reach an impressive milestone in Sunday's Premier League home clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will attempt to reach a notable milestone in Sunday's Premier League home clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

Klopp is set to finish his final campaign as Liverpool boss with just one piece of silverware after seeing his team's title bid derailed by a poor run of form.

The Reds drew against Manchester United and lost to Crystal Palace, before they seemingly got back on track with a 3-1 away win over Fulham.

However, Klopp's hopes of winning a second title were dented by a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Everton in the Merseyside derby.

The Reds fading title aspirations were effectively ended in last Saturday's 2-2 draw with West Ham United, leaving them in third place and requiring a miracle to beat Manchester City and Arsenal to the Premier League crown.

Klopp aiming to reach 700 points

While it has proven to be a testing few weeks, Klopp still has the chance to reach a landmark in Sunday's home meeting with Tottenham.

Having collected 698 points from his 331 Premier League matches, the Liverpool boss can reach the 700 mark if his team claim maximum points in his penultimate game in charge.

Impressively, Klopp has never lost a Premier League game in May, having won nine and drawn four of the 13 top-flight matches that he has overseen in the fifth month of the year.

The German will be quietly confident of continuing that record due to Liverpool's recent success in home games against Tottenham.

Liverpool have won four of their last home meetings with Spurs, helping them put together a 13-game unbeaten run in head-to-head home matches.

Liverpool's shaky backline

Klopp will be challenging his side to produce an improved defensive display from his side, having seen his team go eight Premier League matches without a clean sheet since recording a shutout in an away win against Nottingham Forest in March.

The Reds are also searching for their first home Premier League clean sheet since playing out a goalless draw with Man United in December.

Despite their defensive vulnerability, Liverpool still boast a superb home record, with their 17 home league matches producing 13 wins, three defeats and just one defeat.

A 14th home league victory would see the Reds avenge their 2-1 defeat to Tottenham in September's reverse fixture.
