Ex-Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert praises Steven Gerrard's "humble" nature

Former Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert praises Steven Gerrard for being "humble" throughout his career.

Former Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has expressed his admiration for the "humble" nature that Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard possesses.

The 34-year-old will end his 17-year Liverpool career on May 24, but he will play in his final home game at Anfield on Saturday against Crystal Palace.

Gerrard has never won the Premier League title, but the midfielder has won two FA Cups, three League Cups and a Champions League trophy during his career on Merseyside.

"I think the way he's galvanised Liverpool when they look like they're going to get beat or lose a big game," Lambert told Sky Sports News.

"But I think you get that with big players and big captains, and he seems to have done it time and time again. The thing I really like about him, and I don't really know the lad that well, is he seems really humble about everything he's won."

Gerrard will join MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy in the summer.
