Liverpool announce that 17-year-old attacker Ben Doak has signed his first professional deal for the club after making his senior debut in the EFL Cup last week.

Liverpool have announced that 17-year-old attacker Ben Doak has signed his first professional contract with the club.

The ex-Celtic youngster arrived at Anfield from the Bhoys for a £600,000 fee in the summer, having made two appearances for his former club at senior level.

Doak made an immediate impression for Liverpool's youth teams earlier this season, registering eight goals and six assists in 15 games across Under-18 to Under-21 level.

The Scotland Under-21 international's statistics include four goals and four assists from six matches in the UEFA Youth League, and he made his first-team debut for Jurgen Klopp's side off the bench in their EFL Cup third-round win over Derby County in midweek.

Doak has now been rewarded for his impressive start with his first professional deal, having also made the bench for the Reds in Saturday's Premier League win over Southampton.

The teenager - who only turned 17 on Friday - has also scored once in two games for Scotland's Under-21s and will be eyeing more first-team opportunities for Liverpool after the World Cup break.

The Reds currently lie sixth in the Premier League table and will return from the World Cup with a clash against Manchester City in the EFL Cup fourth round on December 19.
