Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho is reportedly willing to take a pay cut on his basic salary in order to force through a move to Barcelona this summer.

Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho is reportedly willing to take a pay cut in order to push through a move to Barcelona this summer.

The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with a switch to Camp Nou throughout the current transfer window, despite only signing a new long-term deal at Anfield earlier this year.

Liverpool are reported to have placed a £134m price tag on the Brazilian's head in an effort to ward off interest from Barcelona, but Sport claims that Coutinho would be willing to slice his basic salary if a deal materialises.

However, the agreement could see Coutinho earn significant bonuses which would raise his salary to higher than what he currently earns on Merseyside.

Liverpool are unwilling to sell the playmaker, who scored a career-best 13 Premier League goals last season to help the club back into the top four.

However, Barcelona are thought to be on the lookout for a possible replacement for Neymar, who has been strongly linked with a world-record switch to Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
