Besiktas board member Erdal Torunogullari has claimed that Liverpool loanee Loris Karius has asked to have his contract terminated over unpaid wages.
The 26-year-old has spent a season-and-a-half on loan with the Turkish giants, last appearing for the Reds in the 2018 Champions League final when his two errors gifted Real Madrid a 3-1 victory.
Karius has attempted to rebuild his career with Besiktas, making 65 appearances in all competitions, but a return to Anfield at the end of the season now appears likely following a dispute with the club regarding his salary.
"Karius has caused us trouble," Torunogullari is quoted as saying by A Spor. "He has gone to FIFA over his unpaid wages and termination of his contract.
"He has asked for something he doesn't deserve. He wants the money from the months where he hasn't been playing.
"He wants to leave, and that's his own business. But we do not want to make an unfair payment."
Football in Turkey has been halted since mid-March due to the coronavirus pandemic.
