Jack Grealish 'considering' Manchester City future after England snub

Man City star 'open' to shock exit this summer

English attacker Jack Grealish is allegedly open to discussing a move away from Manchester City this summer.

Jack Grealish is reportedly open to discussing a move away from Manchester City during this summer's transfer window after struggling for form during the 2023-24 campaign.

The 28-year-old only managed three goals and three assists in 36 appearances for Pep Guardiola's side last term, and his difficulties led to him being left out of the England squad for Euro 2024.

Grealish was named in Gareth Southgate's preliminary squad for the competition, but he was overlooked for a spot in the final selection, with the likes of Eberechi Eze and Anthony Gordon picked ahead of him.

The forward has another three years left on his contract at the Etihad Stadium, having penned a six-year deal upon his arrival from Aston Villa during the summer of 2021.

However, according to Football Insider, Grealish is open to discussing a summer exit, with the forward determined to secure regular starts at this stage of his career.

Grealish 'open to leaving Man City this summer'

The report claims that Citizens head coach Guardiola is open to letting Grealish leave this summer, although a deal will be difficult, as the Premier League champions would demand a high fee for the attacker, while his substantial wages could put off interested clubs.

Grealish has won three Premier League titles, the FA Cup, the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup since arriving at Man City from Villa.

The forward was also a part of the England squad that finished as runners-up in Euro 2020, and he was widely expected to be included for this summer's tournament.

However, Grealish only started 10 Premier League matches during the 2023-24 campaign, managing just three goals and one assist in the process.

Should Man City look to sell Grealish?

It would not be a huge surprise if Grealish did move on this summer, but a deal would be very difficult to do due to the finances involved.

Indeed, as mentioned, Man City would not be willing to sell the attacker for a cut-price fee, while there are only a few clubs in world football that would be able to match his wage packet.

Grealish is not currently considered to be a starter for the Citizens, though, which is far from ideal considering the amount of money that he cost - £100m in August 2021.

If there is a club willing to pay out a substantial fee, then it would make sense for Guardiola's side to move him on, as there remain question marks surrounding his suitability for Man City.

Indeed, Grealish's best qualities at Villa, including committing players in one-on-one situations, have not been seen often enough during his time in a blue shirt.
