Arsenal legend Ian Wright slams the "shameful" Gunners as they agree to the proposal of a European Super League, despite the Premier League and UEFA condemning the move.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has slammed the "shameful" Gunners after the club agreed, along with five other English clubs, to the proposal of a breakaway league.

An agreement was announced on Sunday night for the European Super League, a competition that would see top European clubs compete in a midweek league, reportedly earning an initial £300m.

The league will be made up of 15 founding members, the 12 already confirmed being Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, AC Milan and Juventus, with an extra five being able to qualify each season.

Wright took to Twitter to express his opinion on the subject, and he said that Arsenal were "Absolutely shameful" accompanied by a GIF which read, "Remember who you are, what you are, and who you represent. That's what Arsenal's about".

The post has generated nearly 35,000 likes, and Super League is trending on the social media platform as it grabs the attention of the world of football.

UEFA are expected to announce their plans for a re-formatted Champions League, which the 12 teams who have signed up to the Super League reportedly do not agree with.
