Manchester United bidders have not been informed that the club is set to be taken off the market, according to a report.

Manchester United bidders have reportedly not been informed that the club is set to be taken off the market despite the recent speculation.

Last November, the Glazer family signalled a willingness to sell the Red Devils, and it had initially been thought that a takeover would occur in April, or by the opening of the summer transfer window at the latest.

Two clear candidates have emerged in the shape of Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, but there has recently been speculation that the Glazers are considering a U-turn.

The American owners have allegedly decided to take the club off the market, having become frustrated that their asking price, thought to be as much as £10bn, had not been met.

However, according to the Daily Mail, Man United bidders have not been informed that the club is no longer for sale despite clear indications that the Glazers are considering their position.

There have been fresh protests against the Glazer family from sections of the Man United fans this season, with the supporters doing their best to drive them away from the club.

Sheikh Jassim and Ratcliffe allegedly still believe that a takeover is possible, with negotiations continuing at this stage of proceedings.

The latest offers from the two camps, which are believed to be for around £5bn, remain on the table, although there are huge differences when it comes to the possible takeovers.

Indeed, while Sheikh Jassim wants to complete a full takeover, Ratcliffe is only looking for a controlling stake at this moment in time before a 100% takeover at a later stage.

There is still thought to be huge conflict within the Glazer family when it comes to the best course of action, with the siblings thought to have different ideas.

Amid the off-the-field speculation, Man United have made an underwhelming start to the 2023-24 campaign, winning two and losing two of their opening four Premier League matches.

The Red Devils have beaten Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest on home soil but suffered defeats to Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal on their travels.

Man United ended the summer transfer window having made seven signings, meanwhile, with Rasmus Hojlund proving to be the most expensive of those from Atalanta BC.

Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir also arrived on permanent deals, while Sofyan Amrabat and Sergio Reguilon joined on loan, with Jonny Evans returning on a free transfer.
