Manchester United plan to place Donny van de Beek on a specialist strength-building programme, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly planning to place Donny van de Beek on a specialist strength-building programme in order to ready the attacker for regular Premier League action.

The Netherlands international joined the Red Devils over the summer and has already made five appearances in all competitions, scoring once and providing one assist.

The 23-year-old is yet to start a Premier League game for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side, though, being restricted to three substitute appearances thus far.

According to The Sun, United will place Van de Beek on a muscle-building programme in order to prepare him physically to compete in the English game.

The report claims that Bruno Fernandes and Jesse Lingard have both been placed on similar workout plans, in addition to Cristiano Ronaldo during his time at the club.

Van de Beek scored 41 times and registered 34 assists in 175 appearances for Ajax before moving to Old Trafford on a five-year contract in the early stages of September.
